Jackson Street Bridge by Connie Mohr

The Plum Creek Art Council was organized in the fall of 2011 to help celebrate the quality of Northeast Iowa artists by hosting the first PCA Festival in Fredericksburg, Iowa. Our council goals are to: showcase art and artists; raise art awareness; develop our art gallery/education center on Main Street; and encourage patrons to experience other amenities Fredericksburg has to offer.

We have chosen a painting by committee member Connie Mohr as our logo art. Her watercolor, painted years ago in her back yard, depicts our town’s original Jackson Street bridge (click to enlarge). Five slices of her painting appear randomly on our pages. With her permission this image will be used on all advertising, posters, flyers and banners.

The original committee of seven were people with artistic abilities and community interests, eager to promote and develop appreciation for fine arts in Northeast Iowa. From this group came the idea to host an annual art festival, including a variety of art mediums, which was held July 21, 2012.
